Working on a new site.

I am slowly working on a new website, for now there are just a few pictures from the Departement of mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAAE) canoe trip to Sucker Lake in the Kawartha Highlands Park. Hopefully I will have more soon. www.engsoc.org/~jrobinson.

Motivation

I am trying to find the motivation to get blogging again. I just started my Masters and between courses, TAing and doing research I just don't have much energy. We'll see what happens.

Monaco Grand Prix

I just finished watching the Grand Prix of Monte Carlo. That was amazing race. Apart from the domination of Kimi there was a lot of excitment in the last 10 laps. If formula one was like that all the time, it wouldn't be losing the popularity it has been. Heidfeld and Webber passing Alonso (Webber passing him twice) in the closing stages had me on the edge of my seat. Way to go Williams BMW. Trulli's attempted pass at Loews (perhaps one of the most famous coners in racing) was awesome.

Despite all the action in the race, one of my favorite parts was the storm trooper pit crew of Red Bull. Nothing quite like the Empire's army fueling up an F1 car.

I saw Episode III the other night. By far the best of the three prequels. I was really tired by the end, we went to the late show. I wasn't planning on going to see it for at least a few weeks, but a friend had an extra ticket. I will have to see it again to catch everything, but the action was good, and the special FX were really good, which they had to be because they were the entire movie. I bet there isn't a scene in the movie without some form of CG in it.

Spam

Just like everyone else on the planet, I recieve several annoying emails a day suggesting some form penis enlarging pill, or whatever. I obviously slipped up somewhere and put out my email adress in the wrong spot. Oh well, no big deal, Yahoo! catches most of them and puts them in the Bulk mailbox, which i quickly scan before deleting, as it occasionally filters out a legit email.

I am by no means overwhelmed with emails. I find them annoying, but I have been fortunate enough to keep my main account clean enough over the past 7 or so years, that I can still use it. I have garbage (hotmail) accounts that I use when I sign up for stuff.

My question is, who the hell is actually buying this stuff that it makes it worthwhile to send it, etc. Some hick probably actually thinks he can double the size of his wang, and keeps these loser spammers thinking that they can make some nice coin.

An alternative conspiracy theory, that probably isn't that original, but I thought of it in the shower this morning, is that the funding is comming from the companies that make anti-spam software. There are mountrains of money in the anti-spam software industry, and I'd bet you dollars to doughnuts that some of those big software firms are shelling out cash to these spammers so that people will need to buy their software.

Is it true? I don't know, but I wouldn't doubt it. Can we do anything about it? Not bloody likely. I just try to keep my main addresses safe and hope for the best.

Apparently I am "Threatening" today.

Taking a little break (one of many little breaks) at work today and came across this:

UK mall bans 'urban crime' hoods.

It's kind of a stupid little thing based on extream stereotyping. The funniest part is the poll.

Pretty much all day the split has been 59% saying they DO NOT find youths wearing baseball caps and hooded tops threatening, and 41% saying they do.

What was I wearing today? A baseball cap and a hooded sweatshirt.

I guess I am threatening. Watch out.

Maybe I am not a "youth" anymore.

Old people are afraid of anything young.

Very Busy

I bet you thought that because I am done school I would have more time to write. Well, so did I. It just never seems to stop. I think I am am almost busier now that school is finished. So much running around and spending money I don't have yet.

I got a car! My dad gave me his old Lumina. 1992, but in pretty good shape for a car its age.

I've got to start preparing that presentation I have to give at the Canadian Space Agency in two weeks. I am a little nervous. It is my first big presentation and there are going to be some very, very smart people there. Marc Garneau is likely going to be there. That should be very cool.

Presentation time. I want to get something done before 24 comes on.

Looks Like I have to Learn German

It appears that my Graduate studies may end up taking me to Austria a couple times. There is a conference next reading week (Feb.) in Innsbruck, and then if things are going well, there may be an opportunity for me to go study there for a few months next year.

Hello good skiing.

The university speaks primarily English, but once you leave the school, the English is almost none existent. So I guess I will have to learn some basic German (Austrians speak a German dialect) between now and then. The problem with that is I am bad enough with English as it is. Let alone German. Back in grade school I had to try to learn French, I was horrible. Je ne French pas. I suck at languages.

I don't even know where to start.

VICTORY IS MINE!

Well, pending passing grades (which should be no problem) I am done my undergraduate in Aerospace Engineering. And let me tell you, it better be worth it.

I start my summer job next week. I will be working that until Sept and then, for some unknown reason, I have decided to do a Masters degree. At least it pays reasonably well.

I just wanted to share. Time to celebrate.

One More Exam

I have one more undergrad exam left. It's about time.

I haven't started studying for it yet (Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems), but it is pretty easy, and my roomate who took the class last year tells me that a monkey could learn CIMS in 2 days and ace the exam. So I should pass.

I watched "Suspect Zero" today. Crap. It wreaks of Se7en, which is a good movie, but this was really slow, and the lead actor wasn't very good at all. I do not recommend it.

I woke up today thinking my exam was at 9. I biked down to school and was sitting outside the gym and there was an extreamly large number of very attractive females. It was then that I knew something was wrong. This doesen't happen in an engineering class. I should have taken psychology. Ends up that my exam was at 2, not 9, so I got 5 more hours to study. Which I used to play Super Nintendo. The exam ended up being really easy. This made me happy.

Bed time. I'll try to post more once exams are done.
